Major Changes

No, not the baby. That's a super major change. I'm actually thinking about double majoring in comparative literature, because we are going to put off our trip to Egypt (which is part of the requirements of my Middle Eastern Studies/ Arabic major) 'til the summer after next, when, hopefully, we'll have more money saved and we'll have a better handle on being parents. Cait is pretty excited to go with me. So because I'm extending my major by a year, I'm looking to fill some time. Comparative literature is a short major and is something I've always been interested in. I'm wondering if anyone else out there has studied this, or if you have any better suggestions for a better double major (the main requirement is not too many credits required). What do you think?

  1. Tim-
I took my first comparative literature class this summer and LOVED it. I had Dr. Haney, and he was awesome. If i hadn't graduated in August i would have extended my major as well. I'd highly recommend it. If you want his email, Dr. Haney would be a great person to ask.

  2. What! You are going to take Atti to Egypt? How long do you have to stay in Egypt? Debbie Taylor almost got kidnapped in Egypt along with her daughter this year. Egypt is not American friendly in my mind.

  3. Tim,

I was at BYU for a semester before I came home met Caitlin's cousin Jason and married him. I took Comparative Literature while I as there. My teacher was the head of the department and at the time was a Stake President. He started the class off with, "Almost every student fails my first test, and most students don't leave this class with higher than an C." I didn't know if he was challenging us, or serious. He was serious. A bunch of us were determined to pass his class, so we busted our butts, and I am proud to say I ended up with a C+. I was very excited for that class, because I love literature. All I have to say is that if he is still there, Good LUCK! :)
