Looking for an opportunity

I've been feeling this way for a while, but the Sunday School lesson yesterday pushed me over the edge. I need a good volunteer opportunity in Provo. Familysearch Indexing isn't enough to fill the need. Any ideas?

  1. oh do i have the place for you!

The Family Support and Treatment Center at the respite nursery. You can bring your cute little baby to volunteer too! You help and play with the kids while modeling positive behavior. Most of the children crave the attention and don't come from the optimal home environment. There is a one hour training session.

Plus you end up learning a lot of great parenting tips and how to do "play therapy" language which is great for kids. So it's a win win.

Matthew and I are weekend house parents there and I've worked there full time in the past and I've loved it.

Call and ask for Jill (nursery supervisor) # 801.229.1181

  2. Hello--found you through Lia F. I was a CASA volunteer for 2 years, and it's very rewarding. You are assigned a child who has been removed from their home because of abuse or neglect. You meet with them once a week, and then you stand as their advocate in court--informing the judge and lawyers what the child really wants/needs.

These kids are sometimes moved from foster home to foster home before they are permanently placed. CASAs (Court Appointed Special Advocates) are their constant in such uncertain times.

(You should know, though, that it requires a year commitment--so kids can keep the same CASA through the whole court process.)

  3. I didn't know you were indexing. It is wonderful you want to do more but don't give up the indexing. This is a great project too but it is hard to see what a difference you are making. But it will make a big difference for those who have passed on.
    Love
